Meatloaf – Polpettone

This is a proper milestone in italian cookery….. like beef wellington is for English!!!

Everyone  has a family recipe to prepare it indeed. I have several ones, but today I will explain you how to prepare one with olives (to be precise, olive taggiasche).

Get about half a kilo of beef/pork mince. I use this mix, but you can do it also with beef only or pork only, as you wish.

In a food processor, put the mice, an onion, 2 cloves of garlic, one carrot, fresh parsley, about 15 olives and blend. Now add 3 large spoons of parmesan, salt and pepper, one large egg, a spoon of breadcrumbs and blend again. Get the mixture out and give it the shape of a loaf adding a bit of breadcrumbs like this.


Now smash it into the oven at 175 degrees for about 40 minutes and you’re done!!

You accompany with a salad, mashes potatoes or buttered carrots; any vegetable you like would do…
